It features classic patterning associated with the Afshar people of Sirjan. In the center are two latch-hooked medallions on deep navy surrounded by a lacquer-red ground surrounded by a final field of cobalt.  Various greens, turqoise, apricot and aubergine contrast wonderfully and accentuate the various Small symbols and figures that fill the negative space. Nicely framed by an ivory main border which brightens the composition.

ANTIQUE VERAMIN It features an allover field of four colorful latchhooked diamonds each filled with a memling gul against the deep surmah or blue/black ground and accentuated by striking lightning shaped zigzags. It utilizes a palette of well contrasted, saturated tones including red, orange, multiple blues, greens, brown, and a vivid white that really pops in both the main border and the inner lightning strikes. Nicely finished with extra undyed brown kilim on both ends.

It features a nature scene in the style of classical Chinese landscape painting known as Shan Shui. The vertical composition of the rug invites the viewer to travel through the scene starting in the foreground and moving up to the tree and continuing to the night sky. This Tabriz rug was handwoven during the early 20th century.

It features an all-over design of penguin-like botehs waddling row by row in alternating directions. The botehs shift slightly in proportion and placement giving the composition a wavy feel. Adding to the funky feel and nature of the rug the weaving style begins to change near the top from a crisper weave to a looser one while the colors used slowly begin to shift as the new weaver presumably began to run out of the original yarn.

This Shirvan rug was woven in the Caucasus during the late 19th century.

It features three powerful leshgi stars on an earthy red ground full of various rosettes and protection symbols.  Encapsulated by multiple individualized borders including rosettes, sunbursts, and calyx and serrated leaves. A very handsome palette of blues, reds, greens and aubergine is accentuated by glowing coral and orange among other tones.

This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.It features a central scene of two mythological fenghuangs surrounding a red and pink peony on a yellow ground. The yellow oval is flanked by four prancing stags on a seafoam green ground. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming red and pink peonies on green vines and finished a thick block of navy around the perimeter.

This silk rug was handwoven during the 3rd quarter of the 20th century in Tianjin, China.It features a central lotus mandala on a rich red ground. This red tone is very auspicious and often associated with prosperity. The field is full of other auspicious symbols as well as flower filled vases. The whole is framed by a border of blossoming vines on a golden ground. Nicely finished with golden fringes adding further distinction.

This Bokhara was woven in Pakistan during the 1980s.  With an uncommon design for Bokhara rugs it for Bokhara features a classic Ensi design and a lovely skirt border on one end all on a desirable and uncommon black ground. Ensi rugs were woven by Turkmen tribes and traditionally used as a door cover or entrance to a yurt. Their is a belief among seasoned Turkmen collectors that the intention of this pattern was to represent a door or window to the afterlife.
