BALUCH BALISHT It features a geometric trellis motif in a variety of earthy reds and deep greens on a camel ground. The Baluch are masters of accomplishing a lot with a limited palette most often with the strategic use of white as us seen in the borders. This balisht has it's original kilim back still intact and which employs thick stripes of reds, blues, brown and purple.

Luri namkadan saltbag soumak woven face with a pattern of bur-like protection symbols in two rows and on the neck of the bag. The top row breaks off to the left mid symbol while the bottom breaks off to the right mid bur giving the composition the illusion of movement. The pattern is simple yet complex with rich and saturated blues, reds, green, and apricot with chocolate brown and a bright white that really pops. It is composed of various bands of graphic and well-contrasted geometric patterns that utilize a simple but effective palette which is reflective of classic Baluch aesthetics. The bands alternate between plain kilim weave and a carefully executed weft float technique that lends texture and depth to the piece enhancing its visual interest.

baluch The field design is composed of alternating rows of botehs that aligned on the diagonal on a camel ground. The botehs are big and plump in contrasting tones of purples, blues and pinks including an early synthetic hot pink that isn't for Baluch purists but adds some visual interest for the rest of us! Finished on both ends with original interlocking lightning bolt kilims.

Camel Boteh Baluch Rug - 3’1 x 5'7

This finely woven Soumak was woven in the Kuba region of the eastern Caucasus during the late 19th century.

The field is composed of dynamic diagonal bands filled with stylized zoomorphic and geometric motifs that are often interpreted as abstract dragons and set against alternating red, ivory, and blue grounds. These bands are interspersed with charming and symbolic filler elements like tiny birds and floral motifs that animate the composition with delightful irregularity.

It features a rosette filled central medallion filled on an open chocolate ground and flanked by floral spray cornices in vibrant rose, sky blue, fern green and ivory. Nicely framed by a chocolate brown perimeter which strikes the perfect balance with the open field and further highlights the use of the uncommon tone.

This Baluch rug was handwoven during the early 20th century in Afghanistan.

It features two octagonal Turkmen guls on a red ground and framed by a border of hourglass and cruciform shapes. Rich saturated tones and nice interplay between light and dark. It has original kilim ends on top and bottom that are each embellished with their own weft float pattern. This balisht has it's original kilim back still intact and which employs thick stripes of red, orange, brown and ivory.
