A wonderfully graphic Kurdish rug with a dark indigo field densely packed with rows of large botehs in coral, salmon, blue, green, ivory, and soft brown. Each boteh is filled with fine horizontal patterning, creating a lively surface of shifting color and texture.
The palette is especially strong, with beautifully saturated blues and reds softened by age, while the supple, lustrous wool gives the colors unusual depth and richness. A broad border of alternating geometric rosettes, framed by ivory floral guard stripes, adds structure without diminishing the energy of the field.
The rug shows areas of wear, including a small blue paint spot, and Some old folk repairs. A particularly appealing Kurdish runner for its top-notch color, excellent wool, and rhythmic allover boteh design.
