This jajim was woven by the Uzbek people of Northern Afghanistan during the middle of the 20th century.

It features multiple strips sewn together horizontally with a pattern of alternating stripes in yellow, navy, crimson, and a bright white attained by using cotton. The stripes are rendered with both stepped and serrated edges. This very versatile textile can work as a rug, wall hanging, or throw. Initially intended for use in a tent as a divider, to cover belongings, as a sofreh, or potentially all of these and more.

In very good condition. This example was published in the book "Flatwoven Rugs of the World".
