This Beni Ourain rug was woven during the middle of 20th century in the Middle Atlas Mountains of Morocco.

It features a central column of black latticed diamonds on a creamy white ground.  Red and brown stripes can be found around the perimeter, most prominently in the striped kilim end borders. This Sarouk was handwoven during the middle of the 20th century.

The composition is composed of various weeping willows and floral bouquets in a pleasing palette of blues, reds and pinks on a pale yellow ground. This patterning is uncharacteristic of Sarouk weaving and more commonly associated with Kashan. Nicely framed by a distinctive red and yellow dual ground interlock border.

The field is bare other than the medallion and four cornices each mimicking a mirorred quadrant of the medallion. Framed by a main border of scrolling vegetation in pink, green, ivory and gold on an icy blue ground.  Well-balanced with a desirable palette in a hard to come by size.

This Mamluk design rug was woven in India during the 21st century.  It features the distinctive patterning and color palette of classical Mamluk rugs. Mamluk rugs are a type of rug that was woven in Egypt during the 15th and 16th centuries. The graphic central medallion is formed of concentric shapes that gives the rendering a kaleidoscopic feel. Soft but lively tones of reds, blues, golds and greens are both striking and harmonious.
