This Art Deco rug was handwoven in Tientsin, China during the second quarter of the 20th century. This sumptuous Deco rug features a detailed naturalistic design of two distinct blossoming branches on a black ground. The eye-catching design features peonies, chrysanthemums, fruit blossoms among flowers rendered in greens, orange, pink, blue and purple. The flowers really pop against the true black ground.

This small soumak was woven by Uzbeks in Northern Afghanistan during the 20th century. This rug is tiny but vibrant and is composed of a colorful geometric design of interlocking diamonds that almost appear as two figures standing side by side. Framed by various borders of squares,

Uzbek Soumak - 2'6 x 2'6

This kilim was woven in the Caucasus during the late 19th century. It features a field of stepped polygons and small diamonds in various shades of red and blue on a bright ivory ground. The pattern can be viewed multiple way and the navy diamonds also form a central diamond. The ivory field is framed by jagged purple zigzags on the sides and polychrome triangles on the top and bottom and finished with thick bands of blue and red. May have been made as one side of a saddle bag. A small but impactful piece.

This plush and densely piled rug features a central mandala on open ground. An open and nicely spaced border of X filled orbs frames the perimeter. In a simple palette of pink, cream mauve and faded lilac.

This Baluch rug was handwoven during the first quarter of the 20th century near the border of Iran and Afghanistan. It features a design of rosette or burr filled diamonds in a lattice format. In tones of madder red, navy, peachy pink and vibrant pops of ivory providing nice nice contrast and visual interest. Finished with multiple columns of selvedge along the sides and finely woven soumak capping the top and bottom. A well balanced and visually intriguing piece.

This modern rug combines tight handmade moroccan shag with Deco aesthetics. An open field is framed by concentric squares with a break at each cardinal point. The field is mesmerizing shifting from greens to blues in waves much like an oil slick.

Antique Veramin bagface featuring central hooked device on a navy ground filled with various animals and protection symbols. Framed by a wide main border of multicolored eight-pointed stars on an ivory ground which is flanked by two minor borders of multicolored ovals on a soft red ground. It is finished with a slit kilim top and dotted skirt end. Nicely embellished with a salt and pepper weft float on end.
